30 Must-Watch Halloween Movies to Get You in the Spooky Spirit!
Every Halloween, we get to see some new spooky horror or horror-comedy genre movies.
These new movies might be great, but the old horror movies always hit the right spot.
They make you nostalgic or still feel scary while watching it for the 5th time. Some movies are just cult classics.
I have found it for you and made a list of all the classic movies of recent years. The AIS Community helped me a lot while sharing their favorite movies in their Halloween party theme posts.
Let’s look at each of them, and you will decide on your Halloween movie list for this year.
1. Casper
A beloved all-time family classic has to be Casper. A little ghost longing for friendship forms a bond with the daughter of the paranormal expert who has arrived in the mansion allegedly haunted by Casper—a kid-friendly movie.
2. Halloweentown
When talking about fantasy movies, Disney cannot be unchecked with its beloved Halloweentown series. A story about a little girl finding out about her magical lineage, discovering a magical town, and fighting evil with her grandmother.
3. Halloweentown 2
Halloweentown, with a revenge saga, cannot go wrong. Marnie Piper and her grandmother try to restore peace when havoc is created by Kal, the son of Kalabar, on the people of the magical town of Halloweentown. Simply Classic.
4. Halloweentown 3
As we became more woke, so did the storyline of Halloweentown, this time called the Halloweentown High. It’s a story about how humans and magical beings can coexist, filled with some threat that lies both on magical beings and immortals.
5. Halloweentown 4
The last movie of Halloweentown is a cult movie. To be entertaining when you reach your 4th movie is a remarkable feat. The best way I can describe this movie is a college drama, but it is Witch University instead of a regular college.
6. The Addams Family
You know how Wednesday by Jenna Ortega is a rage today, well Addams Family was a rage in the 90s and a movie to revisit. Or maybe watch it for the first time. A fun, quirky, dark, and gothic movie. It has it all.
7. Addams Family 2
Addams Family 2 is the sequel to 2019 Animated movie of the Addams Family. The film combines dark humor with heartfelt moments, celebrating the family’s uniqueness and unbreakable bond.
8. Moms got a Date with a Vampire
If some family drama and quirky storylines are something that you are looking for, then Disney’s Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire is a great choice. The story revolves around how two siblings set up their mom on some date who, guess what, turns out to be a vampire with evil intentions.
9. Ichabod and Mr Toad
The Ichabod and Mr. Toad is an iconic movie from 1949 by Disney. It is divided into two segments, the first one being The Wind in the Willows and the second one being The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
10. Spooky buddies
Spooky Buddies is another family-friendly and pet-friendly movie. A beautiful and freaky Fridaytype story where a group of adorable talking puppies has some fun adventures.
11. Frankenweenie
If you are a fan of stop-motion animation and love animation in general, then you would like Frankenweenie. The film is known for its unique visual style, dark humor, and heartfelt themes.
12. The Haunted Mansion
A movie name cannot get any more direct. A comedy of errors, or I may say Horrors. A real estate agent who releases the mansion is haunted by 999 ghosts and controlled by the ghostly butler, Ramsley, who has a sinister agenda.
13. Spookley the square pumpkin
A sweet kid’s animated movie where The story follows Spookley, a square pumpkin who feels different from the other round pumpkins in the patch. The film revolves around self-acceptance, friendship, and the importance of embracing individuality.
14. Hocus Pocus
If you have not watched Hocus Pocus, you have to reevaluate the fact that you call yourself a Halloween fan. But Hocus Pocus is a legendary movie beloved by people across several generations The story follows three witch sisters—Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson—who are resurrected in modern-day Salem and how they try to come back to life.
15. Corpse Bride
We are entering a little dark area here after quirky, funny yes, but exploring themes of death, acceptance of death, with beautiful visuals. The story goes like this: a shy young man who accidentally proposes to a deceased bride named Emily while practicing his wedding vows in the woods and the drama that follows.
16. Monster House
Personally, as a kid, I thought Monster House was one of my favorite movies. It has all the necessary elements. A scary, squeaky house, and 3 stupid little kids have all the confidence to investigate the scary house. It is one of the most innovative animations, and it is definitely a must-watch.
17. Beetlejuice
The cult classic movie Beetlejuice is a fan favorite. The premise can be best described as when a deceased couple takes help from the mischievous Ghost Beetlejuice to scare away the married couple from leaving their mansion. And things do not go as they intend to be.
18. The Night House
The Night House is a legit horror movie that makes you think and confuse you. The story is about a recently widowed wife who experiences strange activities in her old abandoned house.
19. The Nightmare on Elm Street
The Nightmare on Elm Street is another fan-favorite movie. Freddy Krueger, the Ghost terrorizing kids of the people who killed him in their sleep, and how they get rid of him is the storyline of the story.
20. Hotel Transylvania
The 2012 Hotel Transylvania is one of the most successful animated Halloween movies ever. How a mortal falls in love with the daughter of Dracula, who runs a hotel for all sorts of monsters.
21. Paranorman
The trailer of this movie has created all the excitement because this was one of the finest stop-motion horror movies of the time. The story follows little boy Norman Babcock who can see and speak with the ghosts.
22. Trick or treat Scooby Doo
Scooby Doo has a movie on literally every possible thing you can imagine, and spooky stuff is their primary focus. A Halloween special from Scooby Doo is always a fun, spooky and adventurous saga.
23. The Conjuring
The Conjurings 2013 is one of the most renowned horror movies around the globe. It is a movie not for fainthearted ones. It is based on a real-life paranormal investigation of Ed and Lorraine Warren.
24. Edward Scissorhands
Edward Scissorhands is one of the most legendary roles portrayed by Jonny Depp. It is strange, but it is a strange love story of an artificial man and a kind suburban woman, Peg how they try to make sense of this new form of relationship.
25. The Invisible Man
The Invisible Man is the movie based on one of my favorite psychological thriller books by H.G. Wells, which has the same name. The sinister that the scientist, Adrian Griffin, turns out to be and the way he torments Cecilia Kass is the premise of the movie.
26. Jennifer’s Body
Jennifer Body is the movie that made Megan Fox rise to immense fame. A horror comedy based in a high school. Jennifer Check is a popular high school cheerleader who becomes possessed by a demon after a failed ritual by a band of wannabe rock stars. People have mixed feelings about the movie but it is a cult classic.
27. Black Phone
Black Phone is one of the recent hits in the Horror genre. The movie is about a young boy named Finney Shaw who is kidnapped by a sadistic killer known as “The Grabber,” The film is a psychological thriller exploring topics of resilience, power, and friendship.
28. IT
No movie has been as successful as IT to increase the fear of clowns among audiences. The story of Stephen King bringing life, or I say, death, in the most horrific way possible.
29. Cult of Chucky
Chucky the murder doll has given nightmares to a generation, and the seventh installment of this ride is fun and a must-watch.
30. Escape Room
Escape room is a wonderful psychological thriller. Here, a group of friends gets stuck in a dangerous situation when they decide to play an escape room and what are the adversities that they have to face.

And that’s all. These are some of the most famous movies of the Halloween season, and many are cult classics.
